In this four-week workshop, you'll learn how to create beautiful floral paintings from the ground up. Rather than copying a specific bouquet, we'll focus on the building blocks of strong floral design so you can confidently create your own compositions.

Throughout the series, you'll learn how to arrange flowers into balanced, visually appealing bouquets, simplify blooms into paintable shapes, and use color theory to create harmony, contrast, and depth. We'll explore composition, brushwork, layering, and the techniques that bring floral paintings to life.

As the workshop progresses, you'll move beyond working from reference photos and begin designing original floral arrangements from your own imagination. By the end of the course, you'll have a deeper understanding of painting fundamentals and the confidence to create floral artwork that is uniquely your own.

Whether you're new to painting or looking to strengthen your artistic skills, this workshop offers a supportive environment to learn, experiment, and grow as an artist.

This class will include beginner acrylic instruction, but if you are proficient in watercolor, gouache, or oil, you re welcome to take the class in any of those mediums as well!

We’ll meet Tuesdays in August 6-8PM for four weeks (August 4, 11, 18, 25). The course fee covers all four sessions.

You can provide your own materials, or we can provide a kit of artist grade materials for you. These supplies will last you long past your class! The kit for the class includes:

  • 4 oz Professional grade acrylic paint in cadmium red, cadmium yellow, ultramarine blue, white, and black.
  • palette knife
  • pad of watercolor/acrylic paper with 30 sheets
  • two holbein gold brushes

We ask that you provide your own materials for this class - I will send you a list of suggested materials after you sign up. This way, you have everything you need to keep practicing and playing on your own between group meetings. After registering, you will receive an email with the necessary supplies as well as a course outline. Please email Teresa Pruitt (tmpruitt@vinoandvangogh.net) with any questions or concerns!

Spots are limited to allow for individual instruction, so sign up now to secure your place!
