Copperplate Calligraphy and Modern Calligraphy Workshop

We will introduce you to Copperplate, an elegant and classic lettering hand that is used for wedding invitations, elegant parties, and beautiful documents. ​Completely enchanting, the dramatic thick and thins of this delicate hand will make you swoon.

Students will be given handouts and guide sheets, learning the upper and lower case characters. Calligraphy is less about pretty handwriting, but more about patience, persistency and thinking of each letter like you are painting. ​It's about establishing a pace and rhythmic motion as you write - giving you a consistency of shapes and letters, and spaces in between words and lines. It is highly relaxing. 

Modern calligraphy is a fresh, new style that brings a flexibility and uniqueness that is both appealing and accessible. Where Copperplate dictates form and function, modern calligraphy lends itself to a more fluid, closer-to-your-handwriting approach. With some practice, dedication, and inspiration, anyone can define their own modern calligraphic style.
