Once a year the Metropolitan Arts Council (which is totally fabulous, by the way!) puts on an event for local artists called Flat Out Under Pressure. Artists apply to get into the contest, and if accepted, have 24 hours to create a piece of art.
This year both Marquin and Erika (two Vino & van Gogh teachers!) were accepted into the pool of 55 artists to compete. The top winners receive cash prizes, and the top 35 painters have their work on display at the MAC Gallery for sale. There was some truly awesome work from the group this year. Although Erika and Marquin did not place at the very top, they were still included in the top 35.
Check out their work (and stop by the gallery at 16 Augusta Street.)
and Marquin's 'Stitch' is inspired by French embroidery.
